Because I am a bored little brat, I will be compiling a list of symbols/important items that are from a book/movie/text that people would draw on paper or on their bodies as tattoos (permanent or temporary), whichever suits their style.
These are some symbols from the Hunger Games.
The mockingjay pin.
This pin, in the book, was given to Katniss by her friend Madge. However, Madge isn't in the movie. Instead, Katniss gets it from the Hob for free, gives it to Prim to "protect her", and Prim gives it back to Katniss after she is reaped "to protect her" too. (Cycle of life.)
In the book, it is said that the mockingjay pin is "a small circular pin... Real gold," and " a small bird in flight." Over time, this pin has morphed into a gold circular pin, with the mockingjay swooping to bite an arrow.
The mockingjay can also be seen in two other versions: one on the cover of Catching Fire, and the other on the cover of Mockingjay.
There is also nightlock, which one can only assume is actually a blueberry. Nightlock is a poisonous berry, used by Katniss and Peeta to become the victors of the 74th Hunger Games.
(Don't know why anyone would want to draw blueberries on themselves, though.)
Then, there are the seals of each District. There are twelve Districts in Panem, each with different main products they provide.
District One has the luxury items: gold, silver... yeah. Luxury things I can't think of. Their seal is a castle with four turrets, with one of the turrets placed above the center one; light is shining behind the two. This castle is protected by a sword on each side.
District Two are the masons: stones, bricks, and weapons. (Probably why they have so many volunteer tributes in the Career pack.) Their seal is a block of stone held up by a spade(?) and hammer forming a cross; the handles of each accentuated by lightning (much like Harry Potter's scar). Between the two lightning strikes is a random, creepy eye.
District Three provides the technology. Clocks, phones, computers, automobiles, and probably wi-fi. Their seal is a typical factory, with three gears side by side at the bottom, blocking a part of the factory. Thank (or kill) District Three for the reason why I can create this guide.
District Four is the fishing district. All things seafood and tridents and nets. Their seal is, surprise surprise, a three-pronged hook with three fishes symmetrically placed on either side of the hook's handle. (Something's going on with 3 in there.)
District Five provides the power. They have the big power lines (from what I can tell). Their seal is three small power lines at the top, made to look like the background. An atom symbol is at the center; two lightning strikes (much like D2's lightning and Harry Potter's scar) are on either side, and each has arrow tips pointing downwards.
District Six gives the transportation. The tribute train to the Capitol was most likely made by this district, and hovercrafts were probably by them, too. Their seal is a train zooming in on its railway tracks, rails behind it and hovercrafts in the sky. Surprise!
District Seven has the lumber. Big forests getting chopped down for wood and timber (which is bad for the environment, but I don't think the Capitol cares about that at all.) Their seal is a tree (surprise!) with two axes crossed over in front of it.
District Eight makes and uses the textiles. They make the clothes, and give the yarn and wool and other fabrics to the Capitol stylists to make the tribute clothes. Their seal is a no-brainer; a needle and thread, with the thread's end going through the needle's eye. (The way I say it sounds painful, but little needle's used to it.)
District Nine provides the grain. Rice, wheat, oats; whatever was in your cereal bowl, it probably came from these guys. Their seal is, from left to right, a leaf, a stalk of wheat, a bigger leaf, the biggest center stalk, another leaf, a smaller stalk, and the smallest leaf. Patterns, anyone?
District Ten has all the livestock. Meat, poultry, and edible things not allowed on airlines, comes from this district. Their seal is two knives crossed over behind a head of a bull. (Not ominous at all...)
District Eleven is the agriculture district. Orchards and fields of fruits and vegetables. Their seal is a corn with its leaves, with three small leaves coming out from each corn leaf.
District Twelve is the mining district. Coal is what they make best. Their seal is a miner's cap above (something that looks like railways and a stand) and two pick axes leaning forward very symmetrically, the tips of their handles touching.
(I would put all the seals of all Districts when I stop feeling lazy. It's really hard to place photos on Blogger. @_@)
Credits to Hunger Games wikia for every photo. I don't own any.
~Haaaai thaaar.
One fine day, I drew a logo on my hand and my friend was trying to guess what it was, and I just thought, "wouldn't it be nice to just research it and find all the logos?"
Therefore, this was created! Ta-daaaa!~
This is undergoing maintenance, revision, editing and everything else it can undergo.
